In 1945, a Montana first grade teacher told me there wouldn't be any cowboys left by the time I grew up. I set out to prove her wrong, and have pretty well made a living with
a pair of bridle reins in my hand.God gave me the chance to spend my life cowboying, owning, and managing ranches and feedlots. Every ranch has its own way of working livestock, and I have learned something
from all of them. My bride, Carole, and I have worked with some great cowhands and crews in Montana, Wyoming, Washington, Colorado, California, and Alberta, Canada. I believe that ranch people are the greatest
people we could have spent our lives living and working with. They are truly "The Original Environmentalists." In 1996 we sold our cattle feedlot at Sunnyside, WA, we moved back to Coarsegold, CA up in the
Sierra foothills next to Yosemite National Park. We had pastured yearlings here in 1986 and really liked the country and climate. We are taking care of 1500 head of pasture cattle this year, and I also shoe
horses. I have found that sculpting gives me a way to relive the experiences I've had with other cowboys, their horses and livestock over the past fifty years. Bruce is a member of
